DescriptionHeading outside to take care of some chores, I was looking up in the sky since tonight it is supposed to be the peak of the Orionids. In the northwest approximately 30 or 40 degrees from the horizon a very bright light flashed into view and disappeared. It was many times brighter than anything I have ever seen flash in the sky. It lasted about a second and was gone. Obviously too fast for a video or photo. I kept watching and about 5 minutes later due west about 20 degrees above the horizon another flashed in. It was a white/yellow color, possibly some red. It was fast and very bright. I am wondering if it is reflection flares from satellites (iridium flares) or Starlink? I have witnessed this exact phenomenon earlier this summer and meant to report it. I was out by the fire singing Lefty Frizzell’s ‘Long Black Veil’ when I stopped when I witnessed this. It was a night when I had observed many other satellites moving by. I have been watching the skies since I was a child and have been a military aircraft enthusiast. I have always looked up since I had witnessed a large triangle in the mid 1980’s. I feel like there is a prosaic explanation for what I have witnessed but it was odd enough to prompt me to file a report. UAPSRS ASSESSMENT: Witness offers plausible explanation for sighting being related to glints of sunlight reflected from Starlink satellites.
