Description of SightingOnboard the Royal Caribbean ship Vision of the Seas, bound from Baltimore , MD., to the Caribbean. Ship’s location ( from TV. station in my cabin) 22 degrees 48.79 minutes N, 30 degrees 35.82 minutes W. Ship’s course: 171 degrees. Ship’s speed – 20.0 knots. Ocean condition – calm/smooth. I could see the horizon line that separates ocean from sky. At arms length, hand held out, fingers horizontal, three fingers width above the horizon, there was a star. This was my reference point. Suddenly at a 1oclock position from the star an orb/sphere appeared. it moved in an egg shaped path for appr. 15 seconds, then disappeared. Approx. 1 minute later the orb/sphere reappeared. This time it was at the 4 oclock position referenced to the star. It moved in an egg shaped path for approx. 10 seconds, then disappeared. Approximately 45 seconds later it reappeared at the 3 oclock position referenced to the star. It moved in an egg shaped path for approx. 15 seconds, the disappeared completely.

Additional InformationMy wife and I have been blessed with having taken 34 ocean cruises in our lives. I have seen lighthouse beacons at night, other ships at sea at night, lights from buildings on shore at night, airplanes, satellites, etc. What I saw did not fit into any of these categories. I do not know what it was that I saw! Also, my hobby has been astronomy for over 60 years (I am 78 years old), My sighting has not been previously reported to anyone or any organization.
