DescriptionWITNESS ACCOUNT: My life changed in August 1980, when I was 11. I grew up in Northern Ontario, Canada, in a little town 15 minutes south of North Bay, home of CFB North Bay and the NORAD controlled “Sage” (Semi Automated Ground Environment). During the cold war, North Bay had 29 BOMARC missiles tipped with 10-kiloton nuclear warheads.

My parents, and brother, were participating in a daily routine of watching MASH just after supper.  It was around 6pm, on a beautiful late August evening.  The sky was blue, there were no clouds, and the sun was at that ideal position when that golden glow warms the landscape.  I was laying on the carpet, my brother and mother were sitting on a small couch and my father was in his “Archie Bunker” chair, located in the corner of the living, where he could swing around, during commercials, to check out our property and the potential animals strolling by.  My father being a hunter, it was not uncommon for him to interrupt MASH by letting us know that a black bear or a moose was 20 feet from the house.

This time, instead of saying, “Hey guys, look who’s come to visit”, he stated something like “What the fuck!?” We all got up and raced to the “picture window” to see what animal had stopped by this time.  However, when I looked out searching for the moose or bear, I saw nothing.  So, I turned to my father to see in which direction he was looking, so I realized he was looking up at about a 70-degree angle.  I quickly followed his gaze, and what I saw still boggles my mind today.

Above the 80-foot Eastern White Pine, that was roughly 100 feet directly in front of our house, hovered a massive black triangle.  I could not believe what I was seeing.  As I was trying to make sense of it all, my father quickly moved to my left, where the front door was.  This front door was to be access to a deck, that my father had yet to build.  So, there was a 5 foot drop to the ground which prevented my parents to simply walk outside.  Instead, my parents were standing in the frame of the door.  Seeing that my parents had claimed the perfect vantage point to see this thing, my brother and I decided to pop the screens out of the small rectangular windows that were commonly found under the main picture window.  But before doing so my father asked for someone to turn the TV off.

My brother and I stuck our bodies through the opening and observed more closely the object.  It was so strange.  It was massive, my father later stated that it could have been 3/4s of a kilometer long.  There was no sound.  It’s almost like all sound, other than our voices, were removed.  There was no traffic on the county road located about 200 meters from the house.  We all stared in amazement. The triangular craft was matt black, and it reflected a little of the golden glow of the sun.  There seemed to be a row of lights, around what seemed to be a circular section protruding underneath.  You could only see a semi-circle of lights, indicated they continued on the back side of this circular section.

Within a minute or so my father asked for someone to get the binoculars that sat next to his chair.  I grabbed the binoculars, gave them to my father and asked if I could have a turn to see the object.  My father impatiently grabbed the binoculars and motioned with his hand to go away.  So, I went back and slid my body out of the window once again.

As we were scanning this triangle our telephone rang.  My mother answered and after a short exchange told my father that our neighbor down the road needed to talk to him.  Clearly irritated, he grabbed the phone, and I heard him say; “yeah, yeah… I have no idea, bye!”  He quickly got back to his viewing spot.  (I will come back to what the neighbor said on the phone at the end of this.) By this time, my aunt, who was taking care of my grandmother, was standing on her front porch looking up.  My grandmother could be seen scooting her chair to get a view of the triangle.  My grandmother’s house was 100 feet away to my right, but we could clearly see her staring at the same object.  At one moment my aunt motioned to us, gesturing something that communicated the questions; “what the is that thing!?”  My father gestured back that he didn’t know.

Still examining the object through the binoculars, I heard my father say to my mother; “take a look at those lights with the binoculars”.  My mother raised the binoculars and started scanning the lights.  At this point, I quickly jumped next to my mother so that I could be next to view the object.  My mother then exclaimed, “[NAME REDACTED], those aren’t lights, they’re…”  My mother couldn’t finish her sentence, because my father essentially gave her a look to not disclose what she saw.  I will never forget my father’s eyes because they seemed panicked.  I had never seen my father this way.

We watched a little longer and the moment the object slowly started moving, we all said; “It’s moving!”  The triangle moved very slowly for about 30 seconds, then, in a blink of an eye shot forward with such speed that we all yelled; “It’s gone!”

The next few minutes was total chaos, with my brother and I asking questions like; “What was that?” or “Was that a UFO?”  My parents decided to run over to my grandmother house to talk to my aunt and grandmother.  I remember saying asking my aunt if she had seen the “UFO”, and if she thought there were aliens abord.  My aunt looked at me, red in the face with excitement, and said, “I did see it! It was beautiful!  It was so big and yes, they probably came from another planet!”  I then saw my father whisper something to his sister and I immediately got closer to hear what he was saying.  My father immediately put his hand up saying; “back away a few feet please.”  I watched intensely my aunt and her reaction was simply that of amazement. After spending a little while talking to my grandmother and aunt, we all returned home.  By this time the sun was setting, and my brother and I kept asking my parents to tell us what they saw through the binoculars.

Before doing so, my mother asked my father what the neighbor said on the phone.  My father explained that this lady was outside walking and felt like she was being watched.  She stated that it was very weird, like she was in a vacuum and all sounds around her had been removed.  She looked up and saw this triangle directly over her.  She lived 3/4s of a kilometer away towards the east from us and for the triangle to be over her while it was also over the big pine tree in front of our house, this object would have been massive.

So, after begging my parents to tell us about what they say through the binoculars, my father suggested that my mother share what she saw. My mother stated that the many little lights weren’t lights but looked like windows.  My brother and I exclaimed; “That’s all?”  With hesitancy, my mother added; “no…it looked like there were people looking down at us.”  My father said that you could see movement in those windows.  My father couldn’t make out what “they” looked like but said that they looked like people.  My brother immediately ran to his room and got a magazine about UFOs and Cattle mutilations.  He turned to a page that had a drawing of the typical “Gray” alien.  He asked my parents if “they” had a big head like this one”. My father said, “yes”.

The next little while, things were a little strange for me.  I started seeing “eyes”, like those of the Grays, in some of the windows.  To explain… it was now dark and in addition to seeing my own reflection, I was seeing alien eyes.  I was terrified and refused to step into any room that the curtains had not been drawn. My brother was laughing at me and saying I was crazy.  My parents were trying to convince me that it was all my imagination.  Without exaggeration, for months, I would run into the living room, sort of like I was trying to avoid getting shot!  I was unable to enter a room without the curtains being drawn.  It was ridiculous and my family was getting tired of this “game” I was playing.

I will be 54 this year, and I will admit that the “eyes” were probably all in my head, however, to this day I still get startled when I see my reflection in windows, when the sun has set.

I remember that night quite clearly and one thing I will not forget is telling my parents that I couldn’t wait to tell my friends at school, which was starting the following week.  My father told me not to say a word, because I would get laughed at.  Well, on the first day of school, during our library time, our librarian asked students to share what they did during summer vacation.  I immediately raised my hand and started telling my story.  The librarian quickly stopped me and said, “Stop! You know that these things are all weather balloons.”  I looked at her confused and said something like; “Are you crazy? It was a hundred times bigger than our house!”  She ignored me and asked another student to share.

When I got home, I told my father what I had done.  He asked; So, did everyone laugh at you and call you crazy?”  I nodded yes and began to cry.  I was so frustrated because I knew what I saw.  Our family stopped talking about it after a few months.  I never told anybody about this until I saw TTSA and the Tic-tac video on Facebook.  I was blown away.  This got me researching and here we are.

I never asked my mother about this incident, and she passed away in 1998.

However, I remember, a few years before my father passed away in 2009, asking him about the sighting.  I remember that he finished my sentence as I was asking.  I said, “Dad, I want to ask you about…” He interrupted by stating; “the UFO?” I nodded “yes”.  I remember this vividly.  My father said, “hang on…” He put out his cigarette and lit another one.  He then topped up each of our little glasses of scotch and said, a little nervously… “Ok, yes. Ok… there has not been one day since that sighting that I’ve not wondering what it was we saw and from where it came from. I asked him to describe what he had seen and basically, he recounted pretty much everything mentioned here, apart from a few little details like the size of the object and that we had walked over next door and talked with my aunt and grandmother. There you have it.
