Description | In the summer of 1977, during a military operation near Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino National Forest, a group of soldiers encountered an unusual phenomenon. Positioned at their checkpoint at the base of a mountain, they noticed a bright white light on the horizon, initially dismissing it as Venus or a star. However, their perception changed when the light began to move. An Air Force military policeman retrieved binoculars, and they observed a glowing, triangular-shaped object with yellow and orange lights. This object, surprisingly, appeared round to the naked eye. It flew at a low altitude, around 600 to 700 feet, at a slow speed of 40 to 45 miles per hour, moving in an elliptical pattern with no sound. The sighting lasted around twelve to fifteen minutes, leaving the group baffled and without a clear explanation. As they passed around the binoculars to observe the mysterious object, it made several trips in its elliptical pattern before eventually departing. Despite calling the radar hut to check if it was picked up on radar, the radar was down for repairs, leaving them without corroborative evidence. The soldiers were left perplexed and excited, eagerly sharing their UFO encounter with others when a truck from town arrived, exclaiming, “You should have been here sooner! We just saw a UFO!” |
