| Description | WITNESS ACCOUNT: This is an abridged version of the event: I was driving north from Los Angeles to San Francisco along Interstate 5. It was late at night with clear skies. I was making good time when all of a sudden traffic ahead was coming to an abrupt stop. I could not see what was going on in front of me as there was an overpass blocking my view. I turned off my stereo and unrolled my window to try and hear what was happening. Just as I was coming out from under the overpass I could see a giant flying object coming down onto the interstate at about a 45 degree angle, straight into oncoming northbound traffic. Just before it was about to crash into a tractor trailer several car-lengths ahead of me (it came within 10 to 15 feet of hitting the top of the trailer itself) the object made a sudden and inexplicable turn upwards and started going straight up into the sky. I was directly under it at this time, It was silent. I felt no heat, it produced no air-movement, not even a hint of wind. The object continued to climb in altitude completely vertical with the road below. It then rotated to the east and leveled itself out to be horizontal to the ground. It then began to descend and went below a row of trees along the east side of the interstate, to my right, without moving them with an air-current. It was no longer visible at this point. Then it rose above the trees and began gaining altitude again as it started flying to the south. It had gone over the road that became the overpass I had crossed under and then turned west so wing-tip to wing-tip it was facing up and down, vertical with the interstate. It did a wide U-turn over the interstate onto the west-side and was now facing to the north. Then it suddenly dropped in altitude and went behind several small hills to my left. Traffic was at a near stand-still and I was watching this from my rear-view mirrors as well as sticking my head out of the window to see better. The object was no longer visible behind the hills when a second or two later it shot up from behind the hills, going straight into the sky as described before. It then leveled itself off and began making a wide U-turn towards the south, facing on-coming northbound traffic. It began to drop in altitude at a 45 degree angle, into the oncoming traffic, only pulling up moments before hitting the cars and trucks below, just as before. As traffic cleared I took off as fast as I could go and headed north, watching the object behind me. It continued to perform the same circuit over the interstate again and again until I crested over a hill and could no longer see the object. This is when the events took a strange turn and I apparently experienced some kind of time-dilation. I remember speeding northbound and watching the object for what seemed to be 20 minutes, until it was out of sight. I continued to drive north up the interstate for what felt like hours. I don’t remember seeing any other traffic around me during this time, heading north or south. I pulled into a rest stop and called a few friends as my level of fear I felt inside was so intense I needed to talk to someone. I was alone at the rest stop, except for several large jack rabbits that were walking around me. Only one friend answered my call that night. I don’t remember getting home or going to bed that night. The last thing I remember is feeling incredibly safe when I reached the city, likely in the Livermore or Dublin area, along Interstate 580. I never reported it and frankly wanted to forget the entire event. I did check to see if it made the news, which it did not. It was years later that I discovered multiple reports of the same type of sighting in the same area as I had my sighting. This was usually in blogs and an official report to NUFORC. Apparently, this happens with some frequency, up to current times. I recently reported my case to MUFON and during this time I did extensive investigation to try to time-out the events of that night. This led me to the discovery that my time-line was completely off, and I effectively ‘lost’ some time that night. I was encouraged to seek hypnotherapy by the MUFON Field Investigator, which I have yet to pursue. I have had other sightings of orbs in my life, as well as a few other paranormal experiences. Apparently, it runs in my family to some degree. But I never thought much of any of this, or connected any of these facts together, until I started looking into the subject post-2017. Before that I faced a lot of ridicule for even bringing up the subject, yet alone my own experience described above. I lost friends and a job because of it and thought it best not to talk about it at all anymore. This sea-change in the public mind that has occurred over the last few years has given me the courage to submit my experiences. Which I would not have done otherwise. |
