DescriptionThis occurred late August or early September in 1978 around midnight. It was a humid night. The location was central Connecticut in the city of New Britain. My wife and I were driving home from my parent’s house, as I turned a corner, I saw two glowing orbs side by side drop straight down to the ground at the top of a hill, one was red and the other green. I estimate that their diameters were approximately 10 feet. I thought I was seeing a reflection on my window as I turned the corner but realized my window was rolled down. They were very bright, but they did not cast any light in the surrounding area. I was amazed with the brilliance and intensity of the colors. The surface looked like static electricity or the surface of the sun. A lot of movement on the surface. They dropped behind some large fir trees, so I lost sight of them for a couple of seconds. When got to the top of the hill and stopped to look at them we could only see the red one and its intensity decreased to a dull glow. It was hovering slightly above the ground at the edge of a cemetery, we were less than 75 feet away. A second after we could see it again it flew off to the east at high speed. As the hill was the highest point looking in that direction, we could see it until it disappeared, in about three seconds. This whole incident lasted less than 30 seconds. I do not have any idea what happened to the green one. This may be little farfetched, but it almost seemed that it ran when it knew we saw it. A couple of days later I was at my parent’s house and my aunt was there. She was talking about her friend who lived on the same street and saw the two orbs fall from the sky. She was on the other side of them and only saw them fall. She was behind the hill and did not see the red one fly away or what happened to the green one. At least she verified what we saw.
