| Description of Sighting | Observed a very bright sphere in the sky much bigger than stars in background and much rounder compared to other planes also flying at the same time. Seemed to be moving slightly but quite stable for about 3-4 minutes. After 3 to 4 minutes it’s light started to dim in a strange way, making it hard to shape the object, until it disappeared . Took pictures and video footage before object disappeared. The quality is not very good but will attach anyway, you can see it better when zoomed in. UAPSRS ASSESSMENT: Video provides little context (i.e., distant ground-based objects to aid in judging object’s movement, speed, etc), although witness description and object’s appearance in video provided could be consistent with Saturn, which appeared very bright on the date in question. News reports from the period in question specifically noted that residents in the United Kingdom should be on the lookout for the planet’s unusually large and bright appearance. Description of the object’s disappearance is consistent with object becoming obscured by cloud coverage (both visible in the footage, and described by witness). UAPSRS concludes with moderate confidence that witness observation was related to Saturn’s unusual appearance on the date in question. |
